Life Without A Bath? You're Having A Laugh!
We all love a bath don't we?OK, quite a few of us were not overly keen on the idea in our infancy, and most dogs kick up a fuss when it's bath time, but there are times when there's nothing quite like a nice, relaxing soak in the tub!
Historically, baths were a collective ritual. From the ancient Greeks and Romans to the steamy Turkish baths - groups of men, and women, would convene in vast baths and cleanse themselves, unafraid of whom might see your bits!Romans would often conduct business meetings in bathing houses, eat grapes and drink wine. And indulge in a little fornication!Legend has it one of the finest of all Roman icons, the Colosseum, was dreamt up in and inspired by Roman bathing houses.
Today, bathing is a pastime best enjoyed alone, immersed in bubbles, exfoliating the skin, washing away the dirt and grime, and just as importantly, the perfect way to reflect on the days' events and unwind without disturbance, cleansing body and mind in tandem.
Of course, bathing can be difficult for some of us.Those who are less able bodied may feel that taking a bath is beyond them, simply due to the accessibility and impracticality - and of course safety implications - of having a soak in the bath.
But these days bathing has been made so much easier due to the invention and evolution of walk in baths - they come in many different sizes, colours and styles to fit any bathroom - from the traditionally styled bathroom, to the more modern designs.A walk in bath need not be an eye sore!
Walk in baths have been around for a while now, with the most popular, the inward opening walk in bath, being invented a decade or so ago enabling the elderly, disabled and infirm to bathe to their hearts content with no safety concerns (as most walk in baths have simple lift off doors for ease of access or escape in need of an emergency) or apprehension.- care-free soaking and cleansing with confidence.
There are other revolutionary types and models of the walk in bath, including the slide-in bath which allows the user to simply slide in through the large side access door. Many walk in baths also feature a gel coating that acts as an anti-bacterial agent making it ideal for care and nursing home usage, especially when there is more than one user - not as the Romans do, mind you!
Many walk in bath specialist companies offer free demonstrations so you can test them out with no pressure or obligation to make a purchase!Having seen so many peoples' lives changed for the better thanks to walk in baths, I have yet to hear of someone testing one without having to buy it!
Bathing can relieve tension, muscle pain and allow greater and improved movement for those with muscular and joint disabilities, therefore easy access via inwardly opening doors and a comfortable seat allow bathing to be made possible for everyone.
The way in which the bath tub has been revolutionised means that hydrotherapy in-house is now a possibility.Walk in baths with hydrotherapy facilities can now be a part of your bathroom and make your life that little bit easier.
Bathing has, and will never, be the same again - the revolution is here!
