"What can I eat on a raw food diet?" is a question I'm often asked.Being a long time nurse and raw fooder myself who has cured herself of numerous ailments, diseases and conditions, I can give you a good idea of the best foods to eat.

You may be interested in starting a raw food diet because you have health concerns.If so, know that I cured myself many years ago within one month of starting to eat raw foods of breast cancer, fibromyalgia, arthritis, acid reflux, GERD and digestive issues, recurrent heartburn, headaches, diarrhea, constipation, TMJ that goes along with fibromyalgia, sleeping problems - waking up for two hours in the middle of the night and many others.

Maybe you're already healthy and just want to make sure you stay that way.A raw food diet will be insurance for you as well.

before I started on raw foods I had never heard the term "raw foods," so it was all new to me.I learned fast however and it was really quite simple.A raw food diet can be anything you want it to be if you stick with plant foods such as fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds.Of course you don't have to eat 100% raw foods to get the many health benefits of a vegan raw food diet.

If your focus is on an 80% raw food diet especially - to begin with that may be a good idea, unless you have some very serious health concerns.Then you may want to take a different approach - as many raw foods or living foods as they are also called, in your diet as you can handle.Of course you'll want to check with your doctor on any diet changes you make and especially if you have any serious illnesses, diabetes, heart problems or you're on any medications.Clear it with your doctor first.

My best suggestion is that you try to add a lot more fruit to your breakfast menu.You may know that the national Food Guide Pyramid recommends about nine fruits and vegetables a day.This means two to four servings of fruits and at least three to five servings of vegetables every day.I don't think that is enough.I eat a lot more than that in one day.

Raw foods have few calories and people lose weight fast when going on a raw food diet.It's not meant to be a temporary fix but a lifetime commitment to superior health.That's what I enjoy and have from the first month I made a change from the standard American diet, many years ago.

For lunch and dinner you can have fruits, veggies, huge salads and sunflower seed pates, roll-ups, raw vegan entrees and raw desserts such as live fudge, blueberry pie, lemon torte, live apple pie, raw fudge and hundreds of other choices.You can make crackers easily, smoothies, fresh green and carrot juices and lots of appetizers.There are many recipes you can make and easy raw recipe books that you can help you get a good start too.Raw food recipes are usually fast and simple.

What are the Vibrations of the Heart?

After the First Month

Walking is great for overall muscle toning, and we never do enough of it.The treadmill is also a good way to get you back into exercising.

It is especially important to keep yourself hydrated after plastic surgery.Make sure you drink plenty of water.Even though you're past the first month, take it easy, and listen to your body.Don't wear yourself out.

There will be some swelling and soreness after a tummy tuck, but it should not be excessive.If you are unsure, talk to your plastic surgeon.

You can exercise a little more and a little more until you are back into your routine.After two months, you should be able to fully resume all activities.Even sit-ups are okay.

It is always better not to work out at all, than to do too much.Even though you need to move, you don't want to endanger your health.Make sure you are fully recovered first.

Time To Make A Plan
The final step is to make an exercise and diet plan.

The Best Beans For Your Buck

Most of us are familiar with the 'bean song' which goes like this;


Beans, beans, they're good for your heart.


The more you eat, the more you fart.
The more you fart, the better you feel.
So let's eat beans for every meal!

I have no idea where the song originated, but whoever came up with it was actually on to something.Beans really are good for you!

Also known as legumes or pulses, they're basically just seeds from the pods of specific groups of plants.They're packed with protein and minerals such as iron, magnesium, potassium, zinc and folic acid, have almost no fat, are a great source of complex carbohydrates (the 'good' carbs), and can aid in lowering cholesterol and prevention of heart disease.As an added bonus, they're relatively inexpensive.

A trip to your local health or bulk food store can be a real eye opener as to the types of beans available.I've listed my three favorites here;


Adzuki beans (also known as azuki or aduki.

Grown in East Asia and the Himalyas, the adzuki bean is quickly gaining popularity, particularly in Japan where it is now the second most popular beans after soybeans.It's been dubbed the weight loss bean because of its high nutrient value and low calories.Just one cup of cooked adzuki beans contains less than 294 calories, less than 1/4g of fat, a whopping 16.8g of dietary fiber and 17g of protein.

Mung beans - They may be small but they pack a nutritional wallop.Mung beans are grown in hot, dry climates such as those found in China, India, Indonesia, southern Europe and southern USA.They're commonly used in Chinese cooking.The bean sprouts with your Chinese takeout are likely from mung beans.Rich in potassium, iron, thiamin and magnesium, mung beans are easily digested and have become popular as a 'detox' bean.One cup of cooked mung beans contains 190 calories, 1/2g of fat, 2.4g of fiber and 13.6g of protein.

Soy beans - Used in a variety of foods such as flour, dairy alternative drinks, and meat substitutes, soy beans are the USA's leading agricultural export.There has been controversy around the genetic modification of soybeans, so if you're concerned about this look for organic, non GM soy products.Containing no cholesterol, very little sodium and packed with dietary fiber, iron, manganese, magnesium and phosphorus, one cup of soy beans contains 298 calories, no fat, 10.3 g of dietary fiber and 28.6g of protein.

Other beans that are a staple in my pantry are red kidney beans, white kidney beans, chickpeas, black beans and white beans.

My favorite way to use beans is in a salad.Here's a recipe that is easy to make, easy on the budget, very tasty and very good for you.

3/8 cup dried beans, cooked (use a mixture of whatever beans you want.Put in pot, cover with water, let stand for an hour, bring to a boil, and simmer until tender)
1/2 cucumber, chopped
1 tomato, chopped
1 cup cooked whole wheat pasta (ie rotini, macaroni)
1 tbsp white wine vinegar
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1/2 tsp Dijon mustard
Fresh herbs to taste
Salt and pepper to taste


Combine cooked beans, cucumber, tomato and pasta.







Whisk vinegar, oil, mustard and seasonings together and pour over salad.Toss to coat.
