Growing Taller: The Facts That You Need To Know


Adding height to an adult frame is not a simple task. The bones that make up the skeletal structure determine a person's height. These bones achieve their maximum length during the teenage years. Bone lengths will not increase in adulthood, in fact a shortening of one's height can be expected in later years. This shortening is due in part to compression of the soft disks between vertebrae in the spine over time.


There is no amount of stretching or exercise that will increase the physical length of your body. These activities do not impact the length of your skeletal structure. Any claims inferring that you can stretch and exercise your way to added height are untrue and misleading. Maintaining a good posture and leading a healthy lifestyle that includes exercise will improve one's carriage, and therefore one's appearance.


There is only one methodology for lengthening bones once adulthood is attained. This requires a fairly complicated surgical procedure. Persons interested in the procedure will be required to participate in a psychiatric evaluation prior to acceptance as a surgical candidate. Additionally, the surgeons who perform this specialized operation must have previous experience and possibly board certification as a specialist in the type of orthopedic surgery. With time, the bone ends will grow and eventually reattach themselves. This process is extremely painful for most patients and requires an extensive rehabilitation period.


As with all surgical procedures, there are associated risks that are involved with the decision. Failure of bone reattachment, malformation and even death could occur.


Unless you are adamant about physically altering your height, you should consider less invasive techniques than surgery. Utilizing your wardrobe to add the appearance of elongated your body and creative hairstyling can often make you appear much taller. Selection of footwear and proper posture can also lengthen your look. Before making any life altering decision, you should evaluate all options, gaining knowledge to make an informed decision.

You should be familiar with the surgical procedure and what it entails. Most importantly, you should be certain you have engaged a surgeon with expertise in this particular surgery.


Being dissatisfied with your height and stature, in and of itself, will not make you a candidate for bone-lengthening surgery. Acceptance as a surgical candidate for this procedure requires psychological testing in most countries. This methodology is typically reserved for those individuals with documented dwarfism or as a reconstructive procedure due to a prior accident. In all other cases, review of criteria is required to ensure the requested surgery is not based on an underlying psychiatric issue.


Electing to surgically increase one's height is not typically a wise decision. This is a very expensive, risky procedure. In basic terms, the leg bones are purposely broken. Over time, the bone mends, filling in the gap, increasing the bone's actual length. Then the patient requires many months of rehabilitative therapy. This procedure requires a specially trained orthopedic surgeon.


What are the risks and possible complications? Aside from infection and death risks that are part of any surgical procedure, this specialized surgery has others. These include paralysis, deformities of the bone, failure of the bone to heal, propensity for future breakage, nerve damage and chronic pain.


Bones do not grow once adulthood is attained, period. If you are adamant about changing the actual skeletal height of your body, surgery is the only way to make it happen. However, when one considers the risks, the debilitating expense and extended recovery and rehabilitation period, there are other methods for altering one's appearance that become more persuasive. There are many great tips for elongating your body by adjusting your wardrobe, applying new hairstyle designs and changing footwear. Even proper posture and the way you carry your frame will make a marked improvement towards a taller appearance. Slimming down to a leaner body will also provide an elongated, leaner look.

The adrenal glands receive stimulus from the brain to produce two hormones called adrenaline and nonadrenaline for a fight or flight situation.

There are two states of consciousness:

Beta : This is our waking state
2.
Alpha : First step to the subconscious.

Your conscious mind has the capacity to reason out a said response which would be of use to you.Your subconscious mind is your energy source.Regardless of what you consciously do to instruct your subconscious mind, there is not a single method to permanently override and do the opposite of what the subconscious mind has been programmed and trained to do.

Self Hypnosis - Is is not very difficult to learn.There are three tools to self-hypnosis:
-- Suggestion
-- Concentration
-- Imagination.


It is significant that you not try too hard.Self-hypnosis against your will is impossible.If you are going to do it with an analytical attitude it will not work either.The subconscious mind should comply with the suggestions of hypnosis like they were strict orders.

By inhibiting the conscious mind you can reach the subconscious mind directly and you can program the kind of responses you want your brain to be trained with.It is very significant to understand the subconscious programming without the influence of your conscious reasoning to reduce stress.

So you're worried about the quality of your drinking water.You're in good company, estimates are that over 50% of Americans are worried about contaminated drinking water.But if you're after pure home water to drink is bottled water a good alternative?

Sadly, no.When you walk down the aisle of your supermarket you'd think that all those shelves stacked with the latest spring waters, mineral waters and every other type of water would mean that people are turning to bottled water because it's clean and safe to drink.

The reality is that although millions are turning to drinking bottled water it's not because it's clean and safe to drink.In fact for anyone looking for pure home water to drink bottled water probably isn't any safer than tap water.

How do I know this?Because it's been studied.In 1999 the National Resources Defence Council released a report entitled "Bottled Water.Pure Drink or Pure Hype".They spent 4 years testing over 1000 bottles of 103 different brands of bottled water.

Did it represent the best of pure water technology, is bottled water the purest water you can drink?Are you avoiding all those contaminants present in tap water by drinking bottled water?

Their conclusion was that it was unlikely to be any safer than tap water.The reason was that there is little regulation governing what's in bottled water, and the FDA doesn't require corporations to demonstrate the quality of their water.

So many bottled waters were no better than tap water, and tap water certainly isn't pure home water.It's seriously contaminated by a host of contaminants.

So is bottled water.The study found that around a third of those tested had contaminants including bacteria, synthetic chemicals and even arsenic.Ouch.

Not only that, one actually exceeded allowable state limits for contaminants.

That's of serious concern for anyone worried about the quality of tap water and who is looking for pure home water to drink.The conclusion was clear, bottled water is no better than tap water in most cases.

So if you're looking for pure home water what do you do?You certainly shouldn't be drinking bottled water.It's of poor quality and ounce for ounce it's more expensive than gas.

You ought to be drinking filtered water.Water filtration pure water technology is exceedingly good, and modern water filtration can filter around 97 - 99% if tap water contaminants, including lead and chlorine.And it can do it way cheaper than any bottled water.Far cheaper, at around 10 cents a gallon, and it will produce pure home water for drinking that is as clean as it's possible to get.

And there's so many contaminants in our tap water now.Most you'd never have heard of.How about bromochloroacentontrile.Ever heard of it?Got any idea what it is or what it will do if you drink it?I don't, but I know that the best water filters will filter it out.

There's stacks of synthetic chemicals like that you've never heard of, but you still don't want to be drinking them.And you're not with a quality home water filter.

So if you're looking for pure home water to drink skip bottled water, it's just a con.Use pure water technology in the form of a high quality water filter.At 10 cents a gallon for pure water it's got to be a winner.

How Serious Is The Threat Of Obesity?

Looking after our health is no mean feat these days.Our lives have become busier than ever and to cope with this, fast food and convenience foods have become more popular in order for us to manage our time better.However, this has a detrimental effect on our health and, in the long run, means that we will fit less into our schedules due to ill health brought on by obesity which, in turn, is brought on by a bad diet.

Obesity is a killer and it's on the increase.We are, literally, eating ourselves to death.The NHS are inundated with patients needing treatment for heart surgery due to the affects of obesity and conditions such as asthma are also on the rise due to the over-indulgence of the nation.More of the UK population are turning to health insurance as a back-up for possible ill health.However, prevention is also an essential aspect we should build into our lives for the sake of our health.

A report commissioned by the World Cancer Research Authority has found that seven million people worldwide die from cancer every year.If obesity continues to rise at its current rate, this figure will rise to more than ten million by 2020.

Obesity masks many of the early warning symptoms of cancer as well as making a person more susceptible to the disease through a fatty diet and lack of exercise.In fact, up to thirty per cent of cancers are thought to be due to inactivity and obesity.The risk of developing breast, colon, uterus, kidney and oesophagus cancers are increased greatly when a person is severely overweight.

With one in four men and one in three women in the UK being overweight the Government are implementing many measures to educate and encourage people to eat well.This includes making sure fast food chains clearly list calorie and fat content in their food so at least people can make an informed choice.

Health officials have found that nearly a quarter of children under the age of five were overweight and an overweight child usually ends up as an overweight adult with all its associated health issues.These findings have led health officials to call on the experts to find a way of monitoring children under the age of two to correct bad habits and weight issues early on.

In desperation, people often look to faddy diets and 'miracle' foods that claim to help you lose weight while you continue to enjoy eating whatever you want.These diets are simply unrealistic, according to The Office of Fair Trading.

Chocolate that helps you burn calories while you eat it, at a cost of nearly 40 pounds for a 40 day supply; fat burning pills that make you lose weight without exercise or diet; liposuction pads that supposedly 'suck fat' through the feet and granules that swell in the stomach to help you feel full are all scams that should be avoided like the plague.

None of these products are backed up by proper trials or evidence that they work.There is no miracle cure but a simple healthy diet and exercise regime will be all you need to keep control of your own health as far is it is possible.
